Okay, first of all,

nice job guys. You really showed us.
Anyway, secondly, I'm going to put out a theory here. In XY, remember how there was hype over riding pokemon? How you could ride your own pokemon fi-
Oh, wait? You could only ride these shitty wild rhydons? And only in this one part? And it wasn't fun and added nothing to the game, and was just a gimmicky setpiece?
That's most of the content in ORAS that's new. Riding on these fucking Latis (and only them), catching promotable and popular box legendaries (which aren't breedable, can't really be made "yours" by virtue of being legendaries, etc). Riding rayquaza into space (and only for this one, directed part, where you fight Deoxys in a "cinematic" sequence). It's all this guided themepark stuff.
The one who's excited about all this stuff is Masuda, of course. He's said in interviews how cool he thinks this pointless bullshit is. And also probably, like, 8 year olds, who enjoy being led by the hand around the Pokemon world because they don't know the difference and also because they're fucking 8 years old.
The point is, I think Masuda (and game freak in general, but especially Masuda) forgot that a large appeal of Pokemon is about bonding and having experiences with your OWN pokemon, about making it yours, and are instead doing these stupid setpieces that are over in a second because that's what they think is cool, and eight year olds will think it's cool too.
Nothing can be done about this, and it probably won't change. Maybe we can hope for a spin-off that's cool.
