Growing up together as friends is different from growing up together as siblings or family. If the Pokemon (or you) views you (or the pokemon) as a brother or sister, they most likely wouldn't want to date you (or the pokemon) in the first place. Advances would be rejected and you'd continue as your prior arrangements. However if you both grew up in the same town or city, and you didn't grow up viewing one another or acting like brother and sister, that *might* turn into a romance. Not all friendships turn into romances, some just stay close friends.
Feelings gotta be mutual, otherwise its most likely a bad idea.
