I know this sounds weird but I was wondering for how long were they sitting on the Larvitar arc. Larvitar appeared with Ash in the 4th opening and the Pikachu short that same year almost as though it belonged to Ash.
I wonder if the anime had always had short arcs written out but waits until a certain point to actually go and animate them...
