>>52529687Hi, first Anon to reply here, kinda busy, thus I can't give fast replies (also, forced to phonepost, which also decreases speed). So let's see:
>what kept you playing? To be honest, I always saw the Pokémon games as decent at best, what gave it some extra points in comparison to other "just decent" games was my love for the Pokémon themselves, and as someone who loves adventure, I kept playing essentially for the hope of what it could eventually become. But then USUM came out and made me very unwilling to continue, and then came the dexcut announced with no payoff and I finally gave up...
>better games with pokemon's formulaI'm aware of a few games who share the Pokémon formula, but none of them "clicked" with me like Pokémon did. Is there any you particularly recommend?
>>52529772>>52529947>Self insertAnd here is where our opinions differ, well, specifically to Pokémon anyways, as I normally also don't like self-inserts as well, but Pokémon is the one game where I prefer it. I still have that childish thought that "it would be so cool if I lived in the Pokémon world!", hence, my ideal Pokémon game would be one where, while everything is available, Gyms, Contests, Evil Team and whatnot, the player isn't forced to do any of them, and if they so want, they could just walk aimlessly through the region, capturing Pokémon, collecting items, exploring dungeons, solving puzzles, any number of things, OR just get their favorite Pokémon, and not do anything at all, just appreciate the scenery of the region. Etc, etc.
>>52529910Thanks for reminding me of that Pachirisu.
>>52529912The last arc I read was the BW arc, but RS really was the best one, huh?
