It was literally at this point I realized that, yes, they are ALL going to die. I've watched enough anime before to know build-up when I see it, so even though I had my doubts, the second I saw his expression and heard the underlying gasp, I immediately knew.
>sure enough, they die

I felt barely any emotion from the Stoutland episode. Its death was telegraphed to the point where you'd have to be a retard not to see it coming. When it finally died, I knew they would leave it open-ended since they never show actual death in Pokémon except for extremely rare circumstances.
In the latest SM episode, the storyline was told so well that retards found it "boring" because they didn't know how to follow intricate storytelling. You just KNEW by the dialogue going on that something serious was up. When the Minior started dissipating into literal energy, it was highly reminiscent of the scene with Ambertwo and Mewtwo.
I honestly hope people were just being ironic when they said the episode was boring. The entire first 2/3rds was chalk full of important plot points leading up to the climax, and it was very well-written.
