What I've always wanted to see in the pokemon world which has been known since the beginning of the franchise, is a game in a pokemon academy. In the Anime, Ash and the gang stumble about a school that children can enroll in to study types, train pokemon, take tests and study strategies and when they graduate, they get all 8 gym badges and take on the elite for or do what ever. I think this is a very underrated part of the world that seems like it could really go somewhere. There have been great stories around school-based settings and with pokemon, there could be something about Team Rocket (or any of the others) trying to steal/take over the school for an important artifact of power that you and your school mate will have to uncover and solve the mystery of the academy. This could have small tests you get one pokemon (except legendaries and evolved pokemon) out of the entire known list that will grow with you. You get rental pokemon for a full team during battles, but you need to always base your team on your permanent pokemon. Also Gym leaders from other regions come to visit to battle along with professors to test your abilities from time to time.
