Yeah, though evolution as a whole should be directly connected with the trainer and Pokemon's bond. Do what Digimon does, where digimon evolve upon reaching a heightened level of companionship and trust in their partner to evolve. It doesn't need to have Pokemon and Humans fusing or whatever, it just needs to really hammer in that pokemon and humans need one another to be their best selves with people changing as their pokemon change alongside them. Mega Pokemon were a step in the right direction, but that should be for every single evolution.
