Standard two rules + Shiny and Dupe Clauses. I tend to not overlevel too much and very often forget to stock up items anyway.
Starter: Vert, Chikorita, Male, Careful (+Sp.Def -Sp.ATK). Actually not bad considering that for most of the game Chikorita’s main offensive moves are Razor Leaf, Headbutt and Body Slam and Sp.Def buff adds to his already good bulk.
Introductory quest was uneventful. Encounter with Silver ended with our leafy friend finishing this fight with HP still in green. I decided to let mom collect money - Some additional cash will be useful when we will be visiting KANTO and bonus berries etc. may be useful in long run, too.
Rt.29 encounter: Harry Kane, Pidgey, Male, Bashful (Neutral). Wasted 3 balls on this bird. Arguably way too cool name for every youngster’s first flying-type.
Rt.46 encounter: Chad, Ratata, Male, Hasty (+SPD -DEF), Guts. Speaking of youngsters.
Rt. 30 encounter: Mona, Caterpie, Female, Brave (+ATK, -SPD). Overall our first few encounters are not very exciting. Not awful but in retrospection I probably should wait for night or even morning to start of this Nuzlocke because of more interesting early encounters.
Rt.31 encounter: Venus, Bellsprout, Hasty (+SPD -DEF). Box fodder unless something really bad will happen.
Dark Cave encounter: Gloria, Geodude, Impish (+DEF, -Sp.ATK). While Zubat would be more interesting later, this is our ticket through early game. Also Harry totally did not almost died while I was trying to weaken Gloria.
Travel to Violet was uneventful. I exchanged phone numbers with Joey and Wade in hope for rematches and free berries. Also, decided to not take egg from Primo. Also,
Rt.32 encounter: Theo, Mareep, Naughty (+ATK -Sp.DEF).
For now I'll stick to four of Vert, Gloria, Harry Kane and Theo in team. Next step will be training them a bit, Bellsprout Tower and Falkner. I also have further plans to force one not very powerful but rarely seen encounter, but for that I’ll need Old Rod first.
