I definitely don't consider using a tracker as cheating since you're still going out and getting them, but personally they aren't as fun for me.
And I live in LA where the roads are kinda hectic and I used a tracker a few times and multiple times ran into shithead drivers who made driving there just a bad experience, like it's hard to find parking and you have to avoid all the other drivers nearby who are looking at their phones. It's fun to use a tracker with friends navigating but still it's a hassle.
It is the only way I've ever gotten a snorlax tho so fuck the RNG for never giving me another chance for that.
But yeah, I don't like using trackers, I'm not against it morally I just prefer playing the game without one, and I feel more accomplished with my rare catches. I've heard it phrased before that using a tracker isn't cheating it's using a walkthrough.
I have no idea how niantic should "fix" this though, because while it would be better to not have players rely on external tools, this is one that incentivizes driving and playing, which they can't do for public relation reasons.
