It's not necessarily that Pokemon as a whole brand is defended here, but rather that it is presented in the best light and then pitted against its competitors, who usually fail to measure up. What is Digimon World?
A convoluted button clicker with no mons, no party, a childish story, cutscenes, mindless busywork, unengaging combat with zero customization or strategy. It is an overrated piece of shit that while it indeed has some nifty aspects to it, is nevertheless primitive in comparison to other Pokemon games.
As a fan of one of these embarrassing series, you only fail to see this and realize it because you yourself are also tasteless and just enjoy a different flavor of shit.
