Why bother designing and implementing battle facilities for experienced players (those being people that beat the main campaign) when you can just force those same players to grind forever in a shitty pseudo-MMO always online battle format. The game hands you a billion heals and potions and money to trivialize the main game, all to funnel you into the grind that is the battle tower and breeding. Wanna compete online? You either hack or grind forever. That is your "post game."
At least MMOs offer periodic content updates and give players tools to easily connect with each other. Pokémon? Nah. Let fans build websites and simulators because we know we'll get their money anyway (if not through games then through merch).
Gamefreak owns you. Complaining online does nothing. You will give them money for less than what you got before and you will like it.
