Since we're on the topic of pokeshipping fics, I'll give anyone interested some recs.
Aiselne Phoenix Nocturnus's fics. Outside of Carnage Necropolis, all of their stuff very closely matches the tone and voice of the show. And even including that fic, which is a much, much darker story than their others, the characterization is solid. This author's written a lot of cute fluff.
Bittersweet Romanticide's fics. Their stories are weird. They've written a shitton of pokeshipping in all lengths, styles, tones, and characterizations. Some more closely resembling the show, other's doing their own, trippy thing. They have an irreverent, offbeat sense of humor, even in some of their darker, more serious stories. Their Misty's, more often than not, tend to act a bit odd. Not a bad odd, just odd. Still, pretty much everything I've read from them is great.
N-I-N-T's Locked Away is great. It's a coma theory fic with a lot of mystery and romance. Despite taking place in the "real" version of the Pokémon world, most of the characters are still pretty recognizable.
When a Dream is Done is a fic I recall being good but would never read again. It's about Ash solo-ing his travels while working to become a Pokémon Master. Through his awkwardness, lack of communication, and drive to his goal, he ghosts everyone and leaves many of the people he formed relationships with confused and estranged, including Misty. I don't know if it ever went full melodrama, but I think there was more poor communication and self-reflection than I could handle again. For what it was, I remember it being good.
Through Ash and Mist being a pretty simple fic. It's about Misty sticking around for Hoenn. Before they leave, Ash does his customary trip back home to Pallet and shows Misty around. From what I recall, it's cute and unfinished, but it's been years since I read it, so I can't soundly speak for its overall quality.
For longer fics, that's pretty much all I got.
