>>34397150The protagonists are just really good, not just because they keep winning, but because they're one of the few that are actually capable of training a team of different types (unless if you WANT to do a mono type run).
I think the game canon is it's a combo of their smarts, kindess towards Pokemon, and having a stronger aura than anyone else (this was especially hinted in XY) that leads to them being better trainers.
