The basic idea for the opening portion of the game is that this town is supposed to hint at going to the cave up top on this picrel, which has a caterpie or something at the bottom to kick things off. If I had to guess I'd say it's a little too big for all that, but I would probably have a rival fight-style deal in the orange building to let you off the island.
