So I think Gardevoir species have submitted themselves to humans in order to avoid being hunted down. That also would explain why Ralts in the wild are so scared about humans in general.
Plus that "loyalty to the end" thing they have with their trainers I think is more of humans exploiting that kind of protection instinct Gardevoir have with their children. Just imprinting they a subconscious picture by isolating they from their children would do the trick.
BUT they show signs to be quite adapted to human society. Gallade, at least, is stated to be quite fond of courtesy in his Dex entry; so maybe the theory isn't 100% certain.
Well, at least that's my headcanon.
