The game is set up to heavily encourage going premium, because this gives you up to 200 sleep points per day, a bonus biscuit worth 4 points, and access to 10 Poké Biscuits for 100 points each per month.
This all comes together to make it easy to befriend at least one base stage Pokémon per day, because that's 5 points within two feedings.
with you needing to weigh decisions between using your premium biscuit on a rarer spawn if they show up (hungry or not), when to buy one of the five great biscuits per month in the premium shop, etc.
You'll also have days where you just don't find anything worth or needing befriending, so you'll probably just chuck your bonus biscuit into whatever. Befriending all species of Pokémon is a goal too, after all, and something you'll want to do to bypass challenging evolution requirements that need expensive items or lots of sleep hours invested.
Befriending something just to get the candies from transferring it is also an option.
