The best part is that it didn't even need to look like that. For some reason they poorly upscaled a really low-res texture to 512x512. At that same resolution you could get something that looks a lot better.

the actual resolution of the trunk texture is decent for a switch game
but the reason it's so ugly is because it's a badly upscaled version of a smaller resolution texture
if they had a better texture at the same resolution it would look much better for the same exact performance
