"Leaf" is just a shitty fan-name given to Heroine by Bulbapedia. She is nowhere referead to as by such name. It's third grade name used for... Rival in rom. Rom lists her name as Blue. The other names are Red for Hero an Green for Rival.
And yeah, first names used in first versions are usually the correct ones.
