I remember watching it as if it were a movie. I was too young to really understand, but seeing the footage and the teacher's reaction, I pieced the two together. It was actually happening. I never thought I would be alive to see the day.
The next day, the kids at school were playing "Dragon Dance & Sweep." Some kids played the role of a mega evolved Pokemon while others played the role of the metagame. It was harmless fun, but when the teacher saw what we were doing, she yelled at us about being insensitive or something. We were too young to understand the implications of what we were doing.
Hearing George Bush's words on that television screen had a powerful effect on us Americans. Wherever those bastards were hiding, it became our new national imperative to find them and deliver justice. For the first time in over two centuries, we as Americans were united together.
