Pokemon is, or was, my favorite video game franchise ever. I've bought every main line game, and even an according game console as needed per game, on release day since I was in high school when BW released. I've always been fine with the changes to features between gens, and I've appreciated new additions in regards to both Pokemon themselves and gameplay.
But honestly, I can't help but say I've noticed the franchise veering in a direction that I personally find disheartening since XY, and I think many would agree. To be honest though, I think I'd honestly have been okay with taking more shit from the games, so long as they kept the one factor that kept me coming back, my favorite thing about the franchise as a whole: the immense amount and diversity of creatures the games have to offer. Some common, some rare, some hard to find, some that need specific circumstances to get specific movesets, etc, that was my favorite thing about Pokemon. Even if I didn't like all of them, I've always thought it was cool that there was something for everybody, and every Pokemon was someone's favorite, god I love that shit.
Tbh the ONLY thing they should NEVER have fucked with is the full pokedex. There really, truly is no good excuse for it, and it was the defining factor of the franchise for me, and I like to think it was to a lot of other fans as well. So this will be the first time ever I will not buy or play a main series Pokemon game just on principle. I'm sure it won't make a difference and that the games will do great, but at least I myself am not contributing even a tiny decimal amount to what I see as the gross misuse of what was once my favorite game franchise of all time.
I was angry, but now I'm just sad.
