>>37072087from your post it seems clear that the only aspect you care about is "character development" when it comes to this series, which seems pretty blank and uninteresting to me.
you also assume the animation improvement is "a given" due to the times without taking in consideration that it takes EFFORT to improve on it, its a complete insult to the animators and staff involved in the series.
lastly this show is clearly much more than character development, no matter which season you might pick as your favorite, it easily has about 90 or more episodes that don't focus on the overall story progression, they tell individual stories, and those need to be entertaining and well-written enough, take for example the pidgey episode in johto, that episode is great and has absolutely NOTHING to do with ash's growth to the johto league, at all, at the end of it all, my enjoyment comes to "DID THIS INDIVIDUAL EPISODE MAKE ME SMILE OR FALL ASLEEP?" thats it for me.
I mean, I just saw the entirity of kanto/johto/hoenn/sinnoh seasons in past months, the memories are still fresh, I just don't see this "the series JUMPED the shark" narrative yet that this place like to spew so much, maybe its just that I just have gotten used to enjoying the overall aspects of this series at this point. I am addicted to it.
