>>29655811It's a prologue to explain the characters of SM. Most of them are rather simple and not very complex, but Lillie needs some explanation.
An Alolan nobleman who is also Lusamine's father (Faba) found Lillie after an interdimensional portal rift was opened by accident on the artificial island created by the Aether Foundation in one of their many labs.
She appeared human at first, but they soon discovered that she is in fact a shapeshifter. Usually in her human form, she is also part UB-01, a jellyfish from another yet unexplored dimension.
Either way they nursed her back to health and Lillie spent many months and years living secluded and sheltered in Faba's countryside mansion. Since she was usually alone she had a lot of time to study books which helped her learn a lot about the Pokémon of this world, though she had never gotten near one in person.
When Lillie was a bit older however Faba and his scientists decided that they could perhaps open the portal to this other dimension at will and thus put her in a laboratory, running hundreds and thousands of cruel experiments on her. Plenty of these involved her getting attacked by Pokémon to see if it would trigger her to shapeshift back into UB-01 and open a portal to flee, but it didn't work. This is why Lillie can't and doesn't want to be near Pokémon or touch them nowadays.
One fateful date Team Skull broke into the Aether Foundation facilities and during the mayhem Lillie managed to free herself and escape.
Ever since she has tried to live like a normal human and go unnoticed. She has even been taken in by Professor Kukui and signed up for his Pokémon classes in hopes of getting over hear fear of them.
