Then there's the new rarity they are adding in ~5 days, it's called "6* EX" and just provides a pathetic boost and a pallette recolor for the trainer, before that you only had 1* to 5* rarities
But as for why they used EX for EX challenges in the first place, I have no clue if it's because of the TCG or not
