>>47361385Not that anon, but I think you also did not understand Mallow's arc, from the beginning she was presented with a simple dream about cooking and making people and pokemon happy with her food.
But if you paid more attention, you would have noticed that Mallow was hiding something deeper, from the beginning she present to us as a very mature, cheerful, helpful, and some bossy girl who takes care of others as if they were her little brothers or her "children".
As the story progresses we discover that she had to mature faster than the others in the absence of her mother and had to take this role at home with a clumsy father and an older brother who abandoned her to follow his dream (Conquer women and maybe something cooking)
So far it is not a big deal, it is a cliche of anime characters of this type.
But that's when we discovered that she had to see the slow deterioration of her mother, as well as her family breakdown and to top it all the last memory she has of her mother was resentment and sadness.
Mallow's arc was about losses and learning to accept them, as well as forgiving herself. SM has a lot of flaws, but the character background is one of the best accomplished things.
If I had to summarize it she would be:
Mallow, get over your grief.
Sophocles, follow your dream.
Lana, there is always a bigger fish.
Lillith, spread your wings.
Gladion, learn to have fun.
Ash, family is more than a blood bond.
Kiawe, dude those your sister!
