I was reading a debate somwhere and got to thinking; why did they make all pokemon come from eggs? Is this just a theme with the monster things? I know it was established before pokemon ever existed. It isn't because it's more easily glanced over, having live births can be equally glanced over. Kids still know animals have babies, but they don't know how that happens. Then there's the junk where neither can be specified. Thinking about it from a programming point of view, though, there is a good answer. It provides a way for all instances of breeding to have the same outcome. I guess in this avenue, eggs fit best, but I think I know other games just gave you the resulting monster. Some of the people suggested it was also to add to the trading mechanic, since you can send eggs, and when it hatches, it now has you for an OT and you can still nickname it. This is better than sending over the pokemon itself, although the tradeoff is faster exp gain. (given how people worry about EVs, though, this may not be a good thing) So do you have thoughts on this? They probably would not change the system, but they could rewrite it to allow for appropriate ways you can be given a bred poke. It'd be odd, but no more odd than eggs appearing from nowhere.
