poison type has always been underrated, specially before gen VI because it wasn't super effective against anything (grass had too many weaknesses to be relevant) and toxic is that kind of thing that no kid considers useful but then hits you hard when you get a bit good. Lorewise, poison type represented the "evil" type in gen I, something that was poison was sneaky, mischivious and that's the reason why ninjas are poison type, covering what would later be the dark type.
In general, I think that I liked poison because I'm a bit of a hipster when it comes to tastes, I even made a poison elite four team.
Some of my favorite poison types: gengar, nidoking, scolipede, dragalde and tentacruel.
Ghost type is my favorite because I feel like it is the kind of pokemon I would be. They are intelligent but not autistic like psychic types, being over all mischievous. Ghost types are rusemasters, love to have fun and very powerful. My favorite two pokemons and ever eternal bros are banette and gengar, which fit this role of pranksters that I'm talking about or they can be go full serious with all the evilness and shit, because, you know, evil is sexy.
