>>55405672So obviously Blaziken is the best Fire/Fighting starter, and arguably the best designed Fire starter of all-time. It's got the perfect blend of multiple concepts subtly integrated into one coherent and imposing creature.
Then you get to Infernape and it's like it's just a monkey on fire with some armor pauldrons here and there. You have to be told "we meant for this to be a Sun Wukong reference" and after that there is no more depth to be found anywhere in its design. It's pure pandering to a little boy's sense of aesthetics.
Now finally you move to Emboar, and it must be said that a sumo pig is an idea that's very easy to get behind considering the 2 parts here share a lot in common. But then you have to look at the execution: the bipedalism, the overly big belt, the fire scarf---it's just poor execution all-around. They took a very simple idea with promise and went in an unappealing direction with it. While Infernape lacks depth, it made up for it in looking cool to a child---Emboar really doesn't even have that going for it.
Blaziken is both cool and deep. That's why it's head and shoulders above the rest.
