It's called convergent evolution. Unova is on the opposite side of the planet from Kanto and other Japanese regions so it has its own animals that fill the same niches that look similaras as does every other environment. I'm not really surprised you zoomers haven't heard of convergent evolution because todays classroom prefer to teach you kids all the different genders instead of actual science
