It's not like they claimed 'we have this giant lore backstory book we're writing that tells you all the answers!' and then never release it because it never existed.
The creators can literally tell whatever story or history they want, in-universe, and it won't ever be a lie, because they're literally making it. At best, you can say they changed lore things from before and claim the new stuff is what's canon, but that stuff happens sometimes.
