And goign back, you might be right if you gave soothing like a Rubix cube to a Sneasel or a Vigoroth, then yeah, it wouldn't know what to do with it. But if you gave it to a mon like Gardevoir that clearly diplays higher intelligence in comparison, then it would probably be able to solve it, or it would attempt to solve it. The smarter things get the more ability they have to recognize patterns. Hell the solving of equations without any prior knowledge is based on pattern recognition. Which most psychic types would be able to display, because the entire type is based off of mental ability. For fuck sake, the types that psychic is weak to are all based off of things that tamper with the mind, things like bugs, ghosts and dark/evil are all things that inspire fear and keep the mind from functioning properly.
