Kanto is fine for what it is like obviously since it's their first crack at it they're going to make some mistakes
The reason it's a hate mail is that instead of fixing the issues with Kanto, or improving Kanto, or doing a proper remake with more new content they're using the exact same map tile for tile while casualizing the game
Kanto could've really used an actual remake since the last one was over a fucking decade ago and plays slow as heck compared to the modern games (plus if you like a new pokemon you can't use it) but instead it's just this slap in the face.
