Let's Go are the games that are made to appeal to adults. Adults who played the gen 1 games as kids, look fondly on the franchise, but haven't actually played any of the newer games. These adults who will buy it on the switch because of nostalgia. Those are the people these games are cathering to.
Now the kids don't give a shit about gen 1, but Game Freak needs to keep cathering to them as well. 100% guaranteed that your "core RPG" is going to be the kid-friendly one.
