Although the stubborn paladin isn't about to admit any faults and plead for assistance from the hippo any time soon, that isn't to say he wouldn't like any kind of help period, if not just to give the Iron Snake another distraction to deal with.
"Help me or help yourself, you're free to choose your own path. I won't try to stop you."Halberd is quick to leave Chesnaught to his own devices, he breaks away from the hedgehog to rush at the Steelix. Shaky and unsure of what his next move is, Grashglik places his bets on safe money.
"Aqua Tail! Whack him into shape!"
"HAAAAAAGAAAAAAAAAA!"
The Steelix embeds its crystal stinger in a veil of raging water, then viciously swings it at the hippo. Halberd however, is able to dodge it by simply burrowing underground, leaving the serpent dumbfounded and Grashglik none the happier.
"Oh, how I /detest/ hippos..."
"Haaaaaaaaagaaan!"
Unsatisfied with that response, Grashglik thwacks his Pokemon with his blade, sending a resonating clang throughout the cavern, "Don't just SIT there! Weed him out before he can pop up agai--"
Another loud clang resonates through the arena, but it isn't from another smacking of the sword, and whatever it is seems to be causing the Steelix a great deal of pain. Discharging steam, Grashglik takes a small peek at the source of the issue.
"CHESSSSSN!"
He catches Chesnaught grinding into the Steelix's body with a high-speed Gyro Ball, kicking up sand everywhere. The unpleasant sight drives Grashglik to his next drastic measure, which he commands by thwacking the Iron Snake once more.
"Earthquake, Earthquake everything! It's the only way!"
"Haaagaaaaa!"
