There's clear thought in its inspiration (tripoding monitor + catburglar + fire bellied newt + femme fatale), and, despite the creepy lore, it has enough fine details to let you ignore that, like the fact that it can only stand upright, but not walk or run, the markings on its torso both calling to mind warning colors of things like fire bellied newts and fire bellied toads and hearts/lingerie, the way the tail bends to show you it's using it for balance, and the little back ribbons that call to mind Japanese depictions of female thieves (don't have an image, sorry). There's effort there, and it all works together somehow.
