While the headcanonish details are farfetched, OP actually is on the right tracks. The confirmed Timeline by one of the Game Dev's actually states that B2/W2 occur at around the same time as X/Y. However, in X/Y there is little to no references or continuation of the Gen 5 story. No mention of Hilda/Hilbert, no revelation of the Original Dragon, or anything.
So why state that Gen is is happening alongside the latter end of Gen 5? Well, Z Version obviously. The Post-Game of Z will bridge the two Gens, possibly even finishing the story, seeing as B2/W2 sort of felt like filler.
This also means that they could have the PWT in Z.
