Unlike most trainers, Aurum Sentinel was more of a Guardian. He did not actively seek battle. The battles came to him, and the reason why? Over the course of 30 days, he had successfully defended his homeland from an army of alpha Pokémon with his team of steel types and his ace: Mega-Aggron, obviously he didn't do this with just his team they were other trainers fighting along side him but Aurum contributed the most to his home's survival. Naturally, plenty of trainers from all-across the world wanted to test they're might against such a powerful steel type specialist. This eventually lead to him being dueled by the Bug type champion of ATBL, whom if he won Aurum would have to join the ATBL. Aurum Lost, But being the kind man that he is the Bug type champion allowed Aurum to continuing being a protector and not just a gym leader.
Aurums gym is a mobile fortress that can traves any terrain. The gym challenge is a tower defense mini game. For one week you have to defend and fight alongside Aurum and his trainers as they take on Alpha Pokémon that are laying siege to the gym itself. The final day has you facing off against a Rouge mega-evolving Alpha. If the gym takes too much damage you fail.
