I miss the immersion that the day/night cycle brought in a lot. The apricorn balls were cool, though I honestly didn't use them too often back then.
I was also a huge fan of the "traditional" looking towns and cities. It really made Johto feel like an ancient place - the atmosphere for the Ruins, Birds and Dogs were perfect and they didn't seem like they were legendaries chosen at random and thrown in for extra lore.
