How did you not pick up on that at the start? Or indeed as you played through and found the MC to be the only pokémon trainer in Hisui, vs the expeditionary corps (all grades) and indigenous peoples? I might add, they farmed out BDSP to specifically refresh the story in oldfag heads, as well as introduce the MC and supporting cast to the newfags, so they'd know what the fuck was going on when the game opened, but clearly they didn't kiddy it down enough, if adults completely miss the set-up.
