I remember looking for mimikyu and my starter was nearly 8 levels up and I still couldn't flee battles. I actually caught a wild haunter, just to keep searching faster and being able to flee.
In ORAS, I sorta had a rain team, again wasn't planned out but I had milotic, castform and minun who could all benefit from it. Normally though I just like using my favorites and keeping myself under/evenleveled with no items and set style. Makes any shitmon viable but still challenging enough where I'm not bored
