I don't like the way they threw away their iconic human design philosophy thats been consistent since at least HG/SS. Used to be that even non-fans could recognize a pokemon trainer when they saw one. There was no need to change the artsyle like this when trainer merchandise was on the upswing.
These characters are strikingly different, they reek of ESG sensibilities. Brown and blobbish, effeminate men and masculine women. The characters are ugly.
I get that its set in a Mediterranean-style region so you can excuse the skin tone, and I get that exceptions like Iono exist, but I see the start of a trend here and i don't like it.
you're right that they're nowhere near as far gone as facebook or google but they're on par with most other Japanese companies I'd say. Nothing worth boycotting over, but also I'm dreading whats to come.
