It don't matter. None of this matters.
In universe it can make a lot of sense that a trainer would specialize in a certain type because they know how to raise them.
Also in universe it can make a lot of sense that a character would collect Pokemon as they appear at the convenience of their narrative.
What matters is their story.

I do like seeing themes of trainers lined up next to each other. Putting this cast in a narrative Pokemon tournament in my mind's eye.

Either way, it's an opportunity to say I think the idea of Silas being a bug specialist is cool. But at the end of the day his team is not.

Drillbur works in the sense of fitting utility; that's a great idea where Silas for sure needs a way to dig up some treasure.
Aesthetically, and personally, I'm on the fence about Drillbur specifically as a digmon.
And I'm just not a fan of Drednaw at all, so to that I say a polite 'hellnaw'.
