>>50724449The good (mostly my opinions)
>Well condensed games, like R/B or B/W, don't really require anything other than the 2 versions to get a "full" experience from them>Addition of character customization, while lackluster, was still a step in the right direction>Aside from the starters, added a lot of cool new mons, and brought back a lot of old favourites, creating a large and diverse regional dex>New type>New battle mechanic >The first generation to go great lengths in making creating competitive teams less of a chore>The soundtrack is pretty damn goodThe bad (mostly objective facts)
>Low difficulty of story, no option to change it>Lack of content. We got an extremely short post game "story," battle maison, mega evolutions and...well not much else>Forgettable cast of characters, can be defined entirely by their basic motivation to go on their Pokemon journey and nothing else>Evil team is laughably easy and entirely forgettable. This is an extension of two prior points but I feel deserves to be mentioned on its own. Their plan is the same as Galactic's but their motivation is so, so fucking stupid. Lysandre is such a waste of a design and story, because up until the obvious reveal he's actually a pretty cool character. Also, tell me the name of a single Team Flare scientist without consulting Bulbapedia. >Very linear region, Pokemon games have never really been known for being open world, and Johto's non-linearity was handled extremely poorly, but at least those games tried. D/P/Pt let you choose the order of a couple gyms, R/S/E let you fight the second gym whenever you damn well please, the Kanto games let you fight Sabrina and Koga in either order, fucking Let's Go let you fight at least 4 of the 8 gyms in whatever order you want>New type is completely broken, and just straight up is a better version of the Psychic type>Addition of mega evolution only exists to make already great or popular pokemon more broken
