USUM was when there was just a LITTLE controversy, with there being only like 2 Pokemon added. LGPE would've been a bigger controversy but they quickly covered their ass by announcing a 2019 mainline title. But the fires of controversy were already starting in Japan, with LGPE not doing too well there. But make no mistake, the dex cut is the SINGULAR biggest thing that's ever happened to the series, especially in the internet era. It's not just delusional, it's flat out wrong to think that it might not be influencing future games.
