I meant speaking from a biome/habitat point of view. For example it's common for most IRL continents to have their own unique rodent or bird so it makes sense that a pokemon region would have a rodent or bird included in their Dex. It just makes sense to have a rodent, bird and bug for each region. All the other spots in the Dex can be more fantasy based.
It doesn't have to be one or the other.
Whether it's ice type or whatever doesn't really matter.
