Personally, I think he's always been plenty expressive and appealing outside of SM. Even BW Ash has a lot of funny moments.

Prove to me right now that there are well animated scenes for the entirety of every episode of SM that justify it's shitty art style like you all said it would. You can skip the baseball episode because that's literally the only except where the whole episode actually does move good AND look good at the same time.

None of the other series had people basting that it would be smoothly animated 24/7 like SM apparently would be, so they all get a pass. Even BW. SM, on the other hand, has some explaining to do.
