Turns out I was a lot closer to the end than I thought. The last area was relatively easy but the final two fights really fucked me up. The first fight was against 4 pods that cast a bunch of status effects and trapped me into a healing loop for a while. I managed to defeat them without losing anyone but then the final boss appears and you don't get to heal in between fights. ChronomonDM was not all that difficult but it hit pretty hard and had I fallen into another healing loop, I would've definitely lost. So instead I decided to go all out on the offence and try to finish the battle fast. It costed me half of the party but everybody got at least one good hit in so it wasn't a complete waste.
Overall it was a fun run, a bit frustrating at times but also kinda rewarding to figure out. It is definitely not an optimal game for nuzlocke rules in the gameplay sense but it worked surprisingly well in the overall spirit of the challenge, since it forced me to use digimon I've never used before and to engage with the mechanics of the game instead of mashing A. Still not quite as fun as a pokemon run but I'd recommend it to anyone who is not immediately turned off by random encounters and having to read dialogue.
This was supposed to be a one off shitpost run at first but now I kinda want to try it with the sequels.
