This may sound silly, but I can honestly see James and Ash being sort of a representation of each other. Now of course one is a protagonist and the other the antagonist but when you look at the bigger picture they really aren't that much different.

Also, I can see that since Ash can go "Mega Greninja", I can also see James with a "Mega Arcanine" given if he decided to evolve Growlie at home, since he has a very strong bond with it since he was a child. It'd be great to see James leave TR and start his own journey, maybe become a rival for Ash too.
