I'm going to buy one of them, most likely Eevee, and I'm going to see if they made what they wanted to make, and did it well. I'm not approaching this like a mainline game, despite the fact it is. This seems like it's trying to do two things. Pull Pokemon Go players to the main series, and keep the rest of us looking and asking questions about what's coming next year.
All in all, I'm not excited. But I am looking forward to the new games.
