Every game prior created a visual MacGuffin, which made people think N's cube was some sort of device, akin to a PokeBall.
Giving us nothing made us talk. Telling us "this is a useless trinket" would've killed that before it started, this is the difference in approach I was speaking to--nobody really speculated over the PokeNav.
More to the point, N's cube was designed to have function which we never saw, unless it was in the anime, but I didn't fuck with Best Wishes after it went to shit.
