This argument is pretty dumb considering PID values. When a Pokemon is generated they’re given a PID. So my starter and your starter will never ever be the “same” Pokemon because of that little number. The way they were expressed upon generation is important and individualizes them.
Yes the data is deleted and copied every time the Pokemon is moved/traded/transferred/whatever...even when you save in game you are overwriting the original Pokemon with a copy of a newer Pokemon (think view and set in PkHex literally every single time).
BUT
The PID acts as a sort of differentiator through which we can funnel imagination through and call the pieces of data “our” Pokemon. The memories, time spent training, etc etc are whats important, not the data itself.
